How about a sneaky peek?

Hello my friends!  I hope your week is going well so far~ I am down with a bad back and the pain radiating down my leg has me not able to get comfortable anywhere right now!  This too shall pass, right?

Anyway... Sat. I did have the chance to create a sneak peek for you.  This is a sneak peek at two new sets coming your way at Our Daily Bread designs on Sept. 1!  Oh I'm so excited to see these Lilacs!  They were one of the flowers I carried in my wedding bouquet and I just love them!  So I stamped my image and sentiment, which comes from another new set called Be Joyful, with Memento Ink and colored with Copics.  I used a base of card stock from Flourishes, and the designer paper is from Prima (Meadow Lark and Sweet Fairy pads).   I used Spellbinders Labels 22, M-Bossibilities Flora EF, Cheery Lynn Lattice and Exotic Butterfly Mini, as well as Carnivale Border.  The trim was a gift from a sweet friend, and the ribbon is Martha Stewart.  The little heart is from Websters Pages.

I hope you'll keep tuned for the full release!  I think you'll love the new sets as much as all of us on the DT do!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed week!

Something Altered and tons of fun!

Hello friends!  I have a fun project that I made using this month's Scripture Bookmarks from Our Daily Bread designs.    I actually used a lot of other sets on this as well, though in the photo you can't see them all.  The papers you see all started out as plain ivory card stock!

I found this frame at a local Salvation Army store.... yes, I love to look through thrift shops when I have a few free minutes!  This frame had a pretty insert, but since my mother is no longer living, I didn't need the picture that was there, so I removed it and set out to remake it.  This frame is composed of several layers of cardboard, and a back and then the glass on the front.  All the layers are held together with clips, giving the inside of the picture frame room for something deeper than just paper.  I had seen frames like this at the stamp show I went to  in July, and thought then how fun they would be.  Well... guess what I paid for mine!  $.65!!!  Yay!

So... briefly, here are the steps to complete this project:

Take frame apart and remove old picture, and clean glass.

Cut card stock the size of the glass and stamp with parts of the following sets:  Serve the Lord, Dreams, Flowering Faith, Bird Border and Corners, Bookmark: Birds, It is Well Hymn, and Scripture Bookmarks.  ( I used T Holtz Markers on my stamps in Shabby Shutters, Frayed Burlap, Weathered Wood, Victorian Velvet, & Crushed Olive.

Sponge edges with Bundled Sage, Crushed Olive and Walnut Stain.

Trace design from inner panel onto stamped panel centered around the Scripture verse, and cut out with Fiskars Finger Blade.

Sponge all edges

The original clips were silver and didn't match the metal decor I wanted to use so I airbrushed them with CopicsY28 Lionet Gold

Cut brown dp from My Mind's Eye Bella Bella pack, and adhere wavy panel to it

Adhere Momenta Metal decor to top and bottom of panel with Tombow Metal Glue

Punch leaves, boughs and butterflies with Martha Stewart punches , sponge and adhere, add Prima roses

Reassemble frame layers and attach clips to clean glass

I'm sorry you can't see very well  the details of the hymn and some of the scrolls and flowers I have stamped, but I hope you enjoyed this little altered project.  Your local Goodwill store, Salvation Army, Habitat Store or other thrift shop can be a big toy store for the crafter looking for something to alter!  I hope you'll try something similar as it was so fun and I do love how it came out!

Just a little update on my computer woes... as you know I was struggling with the new laptop I bought last week, because after setting it all up for two days, I found it not typing correctly, and at first I just thought I had to just get used to it.  Well... the harder I tried the more I knew it was hopeless.  I was just sick to think of all the time it took me to set it all up but anyway, I went back to the store and they admitted that the keyboard was faulty.  So.... I now have ANOTHER new laptop!  Didn't want the same one again just in case... so now I have spent two more days setting it all up and loading all my programs on this one, but the good news is that I love the keyboard on this one!  Yay!

So... hoping to get back to normal here now!  Hope you enjoyed my project!  It's hard to believe but it's almost time to start revealing some sneaky peeks at what's coming your way Sept. 1!  Not quite yet... but stay tuned!

hugs,

Happy Birthday RANDI!!!!

Today, we are honoring a special lady God has placed in our lives at Our Daily Bread designs, as well as many other places in this fantastic stamping community!  Today is her 60th Birthday and we have gotten together a special Birthday Hop for her!  Our Birthday Girl is our precious Randi Barrett!

My Photo

We have all created birthday cards just for her today, and you are invited to hop along and wish her a happy birthday.  You see... Randi has not been able to stamp or join in on our events at ODBD for quite some time because she is suffering from advanced stages of  cancer.  However.... she has fought the battle with cancer four times before and God has given her many extra years to bring Him glory, and that she has done with grace and beauty! Her sense of humor makes us all laugh, and her depth of love for the Lord has been an inspiration for all who know her! We all love her so much, and if you have been to any of the earlier craft shows where ODBD was exhibiting, then you may well have met Randi, because she often went along to help out at the Make and Take table!  She's a talented stamper, and if you'd like to view some of her beautiful creations, you can visit her blog HEREShe was the inspiration behind the title of the ODBD set Randi's Song, because even amidst serious health trials, she loves to sing to the Lord "Great is Thy Faithfulness".  You can read the entire story on that Page if you'd like to be spiritually blessed, and have just a little more insight into why we love her so!

If you got here from  our most AWESOME ANGIE   then you are in the right place!  If not, you will definitely want to start at the Our Daily Bread designs Blog so you don't miss anything!  There will be PRIZES (3 FREE SETS) just for hopping along and the winners will be chosen from those who complete the hop and leave a comment on the ODBD Blog wishing Randi a most special day!  How fun is that?  An opportunity to bless our dear friend at a difficult time in her life,  AND YOU might  win a free set besides!!!

The card I created for Randi, and which hopefully will arrive at her house today, was made using a couple of this month's new releases:  Daisy Background ,Bookmarks-Trees, the FABULOUS Custom Bookmark Die by Spellbinders,  as well as  the sentiment from Birthday Blessings. I stamped with Colorbox Khaki Dye Ink and then sponged with the same.  I stamped part of an extra background so I could cut some of the daisies out as well.  I created a pocket to tuck the bookmark into by cutting some white card stock with Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles, adding ribbon and a border cut with Spellbinders Moroccan Accents.  I then arranged my individual cut out daisies in the corner, adding some Recollections pearls, Flower Soft centers,  and sheer ribbon.  The little butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch which I centered over a daisy and punched, then sponged and added some pearls.

Please help us make this a special day for sweet Randi by leaving a comment with birthday wishes and saying a prayer for her and her family!    I know she will feel us all lifting her up in prayer, and will be so blessed!

Thank you for joining us... and now I will send you on to our SUPER SPECIAL SILKE!
Hugs,

Quick, Easy and Cherished... and a DOA computer.

Hello friends!

This week my computer bit the dust.  I spent several days trying to get it fixed, and then finally bought a new laptop. It took hours to load everything up on this one, and  I'm really bummed because I loved my old one and to tell the truth, I absolutely hate the keyboard on this new one!  Half the time when I type the letters don't show up and I'm half afraid it's already having a problem!  That said... if you see lots of typos from me.... blame that! LOL!  I've never claimed to be a great typist, but THIS is ridiculous!!! LOL!

Anyhoo...I have one more quick bookmark to share with you and I promise not to take much of your time with too many details!

I made this using ODBD's Scripture Bookmarks (Ps 84:11).. I stamped with VersaFine on Prima Sunkiss dp.  I cut this panel with the custom bookmark die made for ODBD by Spellbinders. I matted that with a piece of yellow Bazzill card stock.  I cut the scroll out of the same yellow with an older Cuttlebug die, and I sponged everything with distress walnut stain ink.  I cut the butterfly with a Cheery Lynn Exotic Butterfly Mini from a scrap of gold, then sponged with walnut stain to antique it a bit.  I added the fibers and Recollections brad and that was it... super quick.... super easy.... but a nice little gift for someone who needs a lift. What better than a comforting Scripture!

I am submitting this to Word Art Wednesday challenge- use their free verse/sentiment or any Scripture or encouraging sentiment.

Thanks again for stopping by!  I love knowing you were here!

If you got here from Chris' Creative Blog, you are in the right place! If not, simply pop on over the the ODBD blog to be sure you don't miss any stops or chances to win!
Now...here is my creation.  I made a vintage tag

I used Spool and Tape Single, as well as a sentiment from Sewn With Love

I also used the custom die to cut the spool and thread

I started with a base of heavy kraft card stock (Mark's Finest Papers), matted with a soft aqua from my stash, then some pretty My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Designer Paper from the Sunshine pack.

I stamped the sentiment directly on the dp with Memento Ink.

I stamped the image  on Gina K ivory cs with Memento ink, and then colored with Copics and cut out with the custom die.  Oh how I love these custom dies!!!

I then "dressed" the dress form chipboard die cut (a gift from a dear friend, cut with a THoltz die).  I used more dp from the same pack and then some wide lace from my stash for the skirt.  More lace at the neck line and some shabby seam binding dressed that up.  I sewed all my layers together with a funky stitch design, and added some Spellbinders corners at the top using the Antique Frames and Accents die set.

I finished off with a crocheted flower for a hat, and a Prima wood button inside another crocheted flower I made, and then some fibers, ribbon and beads for the top.

Several things on this card were gifted to me by a sweet friend.  I do not quite have Sabrina's gift for tags, but I sure had fun playing with this!

I hope you enjoyed my project today and were inspired in some way!

From here you will visit our talented and dear  Lori!

Blessings,

Ps. 23 in a magnetic fold over bookmark

Hello friends! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend!  We have another busy one scheduled, but I wanted to pop in quick and share a magnetic bookmark I made using this month's fabby sets at Our Daily Bread designs.

I used Bookmarks: Trees, Bookmark Verses, Bookmark Prayers, Mini Tags 3, and  Bird Borders and Corners.  I also used Spellbinders Decorative Frames and Spellbinders  Labels 21.

I loved the fact that we have the vertical arrangement of Psalm 23 for bookmarks, but I wanted to do something a little different to focus on the words "He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul."  So I used that part to create an horizontal panel over top of the vertical.  I also wanted this bookmark to be magnetic, folding over the top to hug the page, so I cut my card stock long enough to make a nice magnetic grip on the back, and stamped the frame and sentiment from Mini Tags 3 for the back side.

The images are stamped with Crushed Olive and the verse is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa.  I used my pastel chalks to sponge a scene and then spritzed with Pearl Glimmer Mist to set.  The grassy meadow at the bottom is from the Birds Borders and Corners set, and I also stamped  the Trees Bookmark an extra time so I could cut out the eagle and adhere to the top.  Another simple project and a lovely little gift.

A little tip:  When I first made this, I cut my magnets and inserted between layers of card stock to hide them, but the card stock is so thick (I used Gina K Green Apple and Papertrey Vintage Cream) that my magnets did not hold.  The only solution was to adhere the magnets directly to the backs of both parts, and even though they do show, many of your store bought ones have visible magnets on the back too, so I don't think that's a problem.  Now it grips the page nicely.

I am entering this in the following challenges: Stempelsonnen Challenge -  stamp as main focus - Week 1, Bookmark, Digi Doodle Shop's Best - Things with wings, Sweet Stampin -  Things with Wings (eagle), Clearly Inspired - Things with Wings, Crafty Catz  – Anything Goes, Inspire Me Fridays – Always Anything Goes, Simply Create Too -Anything goes, Paper Crafting Journey -  Anything Goes, Ruby's Rainbow - Anything but a card

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I just love knowing you were here!  I pray that each one of you is blessed with a wonderful weekend and joy in your heart!

Pop Up Fun!

Hello friends!   I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are off to a great start of the work week!  I have just a quick project to share with you today.  As you most likely know, this month at Our Daily Bread designs, it's all about bookmarks!  I had this idea in my head as a way to give a bookmark... from the minute I first saw them.  I created a quick free standing pop up card base and inserted the bookmark.  It folds flat and sends easily (well, if you use flat flowers! LOL!)  The instructions can be found HERE.  The base couldn't be easier, and the bookmark is done in a snap with the ODBD custom Bookmark die cut!  This one uses Rubber Cafe white card stock, and The Paper Co cool metallic blue.  The stamp is from the ODBD Scripture Bookmarks set and it's stamped with Versacolor variated pigment ink in Icicle, then I over-stamped just the verse in VersaFine Onyx Black.  The ribbon is a sheer ribbon from Michael's, as are the flowers.  To decorate the base I used Spellbinders Moroccan Accents, and Ornate Artisan Tags and Accents.

I am entering this in this week's ODBD Shining the Light challenge, which is super easy... to use Scripture!  I am also entering it in Word Art Wednesday, which is also to use Scripture or any encouraging sentiment, or the free digi they give each week.  I am also linking it to Craft Your Passion - Anything Goes, Lollipop Crafts - Monochromatic,   Tammy Scrapin Corner -BlingThe Pink Elephant - Ribbon Galore,  There She Goes - Use a Sentiment as main Focus, Whoopsi Daisy  -Die Cuts and/or Punches,   Love to Create  Punches and Dies Victorine Originals Bling One Stitch At A Time  White +1Our Creative Corner -  Bling it up and something from nature (bling on bookmark, bird and grass stamp)  Clearly Inspired -Things with WingsTotally Papercrafts – Monochrome Make it Monday - always Anything Goes, Gingerloft 45: silhouettes, Emerald faerie garden - bling, Really reasonable ribbon 53: bling with ribbon, 2 sisters- anything goes

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I love knowing you were here!

They will renew their strengh!

Hello friends!  I hope your weekend is off to a great start!!!  I have a busy day lined up but wanted to pop in real quick to share a fast and easy bookmark I made using this month's Bookmark release at Our Daily Bread designs!  I am so loving these sets, and the ability they give me to make lots of little tuck in gifts in a big hurry!  This one is literally about a 15 minute project, start to finish. I could reproduce this in large quantities very easily!  The stamp itself is from a set designed by our own DT member, Dawn Lusk, and as called Bookmarks- Trees.  It is cut with the custom die made by Spellbinders for ODBD.

It's stamped with VersaFine ink, which is my ink of choice when using clear stamps.  Yes, I did say clear.  It seems that when fitting stamps to dies, sometimes with rubber there is some shrinkage, and so even though Kelley has always used fabulous rubber, the image bookmarks that are made to fit the dies are clear.  However.... I have to say, that I have had NO problems stamping with them.  I stamped off a couple times to season mine, and of course, VersaFine is a thick and wonderful ink to use.  Memento works great too.  I do love the fact that with clear stamps, you can see where you are stamping and match things up perfectly without any special positioning tools!  (Just a note... only the images are clear this month.  The others are still rubber.)

Anyway... paper here is Papertrey, and then after stamping, I cut out with the die, and then I airbrushed and sponged the edges, added the fibers and done.  I love the Scripture used here and the word picture it creates in my mind.  One of the things I love about spring is watching a live cam on a certain pair of eagle parents as they raise their young.  I get to watch the eggs hatch, then these tiny little balls of fluff immediately start taking nourishment, and they grow soooo fast!  Both parents are constantly caring for the young.  They take turns with who will sit on the nest and who will bring food, but it's their constant concern.  Over the next few weeks, I watch those babies grow so fast it's unbelievable!  It seems like no time at all and they are stretching their wings and exercising them there in the nest.  I hold my breath as they get adventurous and get near to the edge, scared to death that one will fall, but so far, it has not happened.  This particular couple has raised 14 babies at this point, and it is believed that all are still doing fine!  Anyway... where I was going with this story was the incredible wing span on these eagles, and the strength they have!  We have seen occasional eagles on our lake here in NC too, and when they fly over they are so majestic, yet they can swoop down, grab a fish from the water and soar back up in seconds!  They are in my eyes, a symbol of strength!  I think that's why the Lord chose this word picture for us in this passage in Isaiah.  When we wait on Him... let Him direct our lives, He will renew our strength, and fill us with all we need.  What a comforting verse to share with someone who is perhaps feeling low, out of strength, like they can't go on!  That's just one of the reasons I love these sets... the perfect words are available for a little gift that says "I care".

Thanks for stopping by!  I love knowing you were here!!!  Have a blessed weekend!

For my creation.....

I used the Faith, Hope, Love set and the Vine Background.  I created a center step like I've shared before but adjusted my outer panels to accommodate the width of my panels.  I matted with black and added a Spellbinders Ironworks Accents border.  I cut the Love panel with Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangles Large, and the Long  Scalloped Rectangles Lg to mat it.   The ribbon is May Arts and the flower is Spare Parts.  The pearls are from ACMoore.  I love the elegant font of this set!  I could see this not only as bookmarks but wall art, notebook or journal covers, or for an elegant home decor piece.  Wouldn't the Love word make a gorgeous wedding or anniversary card?  Oh the possibilities!  LOL!

Here are the sets I used:
