Hello and happy weekend everyone!!!

Today's Inspiration Challenge was a treat for me... I don't usually get to play on Sat. (or Sun. very often)... but today I did. I drew my inspiration from the calendar on the left on this site: http://www.roomservicehome.com/prodinfo.asp?number=GP212312

I was thinking of that new SU! set with the bird that looks just like that one... but I didn't have it. I did however have this Martha Stewart bird stamp and I had some great designer paper by K&Co in the old writing, posts, etc styles. So this is what I came up with. The bird is stamped with Archival Jet Black, and colored with Prisma Pencils and blended with Odor Free Mineral Spirits. I used a Very Vanilla base, matted with River Rock, and then the dp. It is a 4 x 6" card. I left room for a sentiment panel. I have a stamp I want to use that says "His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me"... in fact I stamped it and mounted it on River Rock, added a clip with a snippet of ivory lace and was going to attach it, but decided to wait until I know the exact need for this card. Right now it could go masculine or feminine... if I attached that lace it was going feminine... so I'll wait. As I mentioned yesterday... I often leave a card without a sentiment until I have the need. It's always good to have a few on hand to grab when things come up in a hurry!

I have to head to the Vet with Lucy now... she needs her shots. She'll be mad at me the rest of the day! LOL! I've been preparing her with lots of treats.

The Will of God Embraces Life

OK... so I told you I was going to change the sentiment on my Limited Supply Embrace Life card below. I stamped this wonder-

fully inspirational sentiment from the Sweet 'n Sassy set called The Grace of God. It just took a couple minutes to stamp this, add one more mat and mount it on top of the old one.

This something I often do.... when I make a card for a challenge, I either use no sentiment or make sure that the sentiment panel is easily changed, so that I can personalize it better when the need arises.

Embrace Life with Limited Supplies

Hello again! It's raining today and I'm having fun in my craft room! Today's Limited Supply Challenge on SCS was a very limited list of allowables. We HAD to make our own designer paper, and could not use any other designer paper. We could ONLY use one set, so the background had to come from the same set as our main image and our sentiment. I struggled with the sentiment, because in all honesty, this is not a sentiment I am likely to use, so I made the panel large enough to add another layer to it with a sentiment more appropriate for the need. Also limited were the use of accessories and embellishments. We could only use Nesties or punches on the sentiment panel, nothing else, but we were allowed to cut out any images by hand that we wished. The embellishments could only be brads and ribbon.

Whew... when there's such a specific list I always worry I'll miss something and be "illegal"! LOL! But today I think I got it covered. I used Very Vanilla for my main panel and for the flower images. I stamped my bg with VersaMark and stamped the leaf image from Embrace Life on that. I used Archival Jet Black to stamp three of the flowers from that set, and stamped with VersaMark on the sentiment panel with the smaller floral branch image in that set. Then I overstamped the sentiment with Archival. I did use Nesties to cut the oval sentiment panel and the scalloped oval in very vanilla. I lightly touched just a tad of pastels to my flowers and then painted them with Twinkling H2Os.. in French Vanilla.... sounds yummy, doesn't it? This gave the flowers a pretty shimmer. I went over the stamens with a gel pen to highlight. I plan to add stickles to the stamens later, but that was not allowed for this challenge.

I used two ribbons and did not use the allowed brads. It's a simple layout but one of my old faithful standbys... I use this layout a lot.

Fishers of Men from Our Daily Bread

This is another card I was finishing up in the wee hours of the morning. This week's ODB challenge was a sketch and I just loved it!!!

First I have to say what wonderful stamps Our Daily Bread has! They are absolutely the best quality... easy to stamp, and very detailed in design. They come either mounted on wood or cling foam, which is how I have been buying mine to save a little money and that works just fine on my Acrylic Blocks. That way they store in less space and I'm really glad they are offering that option. I also love their Scriptures and sentiments... so many of my cards ultimately go out to people who are hurting in some way, either through our CARE ministry at Church, or sometimes I send bunches of them to a cause that I feel drawn to... and in either case I love putting Scripture or faith based sentiments on them.

Ok... now on to the card. I stamped these images and the sentiment onto SU! Very Vanilla with Memento, and then colored with Copics. I sponged lightly around the edges with Creamy Caramel. Instead of ribbon for the sketch element horizonally running across the bottom I used black card stock because this is for a guy and I didn't want any foofoo on it at all. I am happy with how it came out.

A Black and White Silhouette with sparkle

Hello everyone!
Wow... yesterday flew by and I didn't get to start on cards until bedtime.... LOL! So I finished this about 2am. A group of friends over on SCS do a weekly challenge, and this week Dawn chose the theme... we were to make a black and white silhouette card. Well at 2am, not much looks good to me! I had made another one with Stampin Up! Essence of Love, but didn't like it when I got all done, so I grabbed my Stampendous set that I always love, and stamped it with Archival Jet Black. I layered it onto basic black and used my new ticket corner punch for the corner. I decided to go with a clean and simple layout to let the black and white pop. I did add some decor to the inside and the envelope with an Inkadinkado stamp. I added Black Diamond and Frosted Lace Stickles to the main image, although with the showers we're having today, my light is poor and I can't capture the sparkle. It IS there... just can't prove it! LOL! I also popped up the main panel. This was fun and actually challenging for me... I don't do CAS easily, but I always love the look when others do it... and this time I really like the way this came out!

My Sister My Friend

Hello everyone! Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog! Today's challenge on SCS was a sketch challenge. I have used this sketch before and loved it, but today I struggled. I think it's because I'm in such a time crunch. I have a lot of prep work still to do for tonight's Bible Study, and I have been so busy all day... so this was a quickie.

I used my daisy paper from K&Co (I love this paper) and the green dp is from EK Success. I used Nesties to cut three small squares out of GPW. I sponged around the edges with Old Olive and then Always Artichoke. On two I mounted my series of Primas, and on the one I stamped my sentiment from My Sentiments Exactly in Old Olive. My sister is having a birthday, so I put the birthday sentiment inside the card. I assembled the card with everything except the three little panels, draped and attached the leaf ribbon, then added the flowers and sentiment panels popped up on dimensionals. The bow at the bottom comes through a punched double slot hole I had punched before mounting on the base. I felt that to run a ribbon all the way across made too many horizontal rows and was not pleasing to the eye. After I took the photo I realized that I had forgotten to add the punched and sponged butterfly I had made but I didn't have time to take more pictures. There will be a sparkly pretty butterfly enjoying these flowers when I send it off. I don't think this is my best work, but being in such a rush had a lot to do with that. I love Penny Black!

Hello everyone! I'm on try two here... blogger ate my first upload! LOL!

Today's color challenge on SCS was to use Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive. I love this combo although I was concerned my card might look fallish ... and I am so in the mood for Spring!!! Anyhoo... I stamped my Penny Black image with Archival Black Ink onto Watercolor Paper. I colored the image with SU! markers in the three colors. I then added Stickles and Clear Glitter Pen. I'm sorry the sparkle does not show in the upload... it does in my photo, but it gets lost in the upload. I mounted my matted image onto BasicGrey Designer Paper and then onto a base of Old Olive. I added a butterfly from SU! Natural Beauty. I cut it out and added clear glitter pen outlines to it as well. The ribbon is SU! Old Olive and the card size is 5 1/4" square.

Wow! Where did today go? I was knee deep in paper work for church all day long! I finally took a break to try today's technique lover's challenge over on SCS.... rubber band stamping.

This was a new one for me. You stretch multiple rubber bands over a wood block, and stamp your background with either VersaMark, Craft Ink, or whatever you please really. You then could sponge the bg and the inked portion would resist the color, or you could do as I did.... heat emboss. I did it in a two step process... first embossing with copper ep, and then with gold ep. I used the sketch for Our Daily Bread Designs ODBD02.... and I first colored my ODB image from Fishers of Men. But I didn't think it went as well with the new bg, so I used this Sweet 'n Sassy Chickadee and sentiment that I already had colored (with Copics) and was sitting on my desk. I will post the other one as soon as I can finish it up. Sometimes things like that just happen! LOL! So I used brushed gold cs which I ran through the cuttlebug for the left side of the sketch, punched a couple leaves out of copper scraps with my Martha Stewart punch, used my Nesties for the cut out shapes... oval and label one, and wrapped SU! twine around several times... in black and natural. I struggle with masculine cards, but I think this one is masculine enough for anyone!

Casing Our Featured Stamper, Jami

Today's Featured Stamper over at SCS is Jami... Sgt.Stamper.... yeah!!! I love Jami's work and she is a sweetheart besides! I especially love her Scripture based cards and her house mouse cards. She has a style that I just love!

I used Jami's basic layout but changed everything else. I used this great designer paper by Flair Designs. The stamps I used are from Our Daily Bread Designs, and I used a double ribbon treatment: one is Martha Stewart and one is from Hobby Lobby. The aqua cs is Bazzill Basics and the Kraft is an unknown Kraft I have had for a while.

I love the verse here... it amazes me to think that Jesus counted it JOY to endure the pain, suffering, scorn and rejection, and ultimately the cross for me and you! THAT is love!

Natural Beauty

This is a card I made for a challenge I do with a group of friends over on SCS... the TSC0220 challenge, which was to case the work of the talented Darla Ryan. I loved her card like this that used the older SU! set, Natural Beauty. Hers was done in beautiful shades of pink, but I did mine a bit darker, using Ruby Red and Cameo Coral Markers for my coloring. I used Watercolor paper and a paint brush to color this image and added stickles to the centers..... love that stuff!!!! LOL!

For the butterfly I used a Stampabilities stamp and after coloring it, I added Sepia by Ranger which stiffened it and gave it a real gloss. The dp is from K&Co.

This is going to Australia to the victims of the horrific brush fires. A friend is heading up the effort to get cards to these people who have to be devastated, and the hope is these cards will put a smile on their faces just knowing people care and are praying for them. I have a little bundle of cards going out. It makes me happy to think they are going so far and for such a good cause.

His Holy Name Challenge - Protector

This is my 6 x 6 page for His Holy Name Challenge - Protector. I found several verses that speak to how God protects us under His wings. While there are so many different ways to express His protection... I just love the thought of being sheltered under His wings. I chose this photo because the cloud formation looks to me just like an eagle in flight! Isn't it amazing? I used the computer to print the verses right on the image so I wouldn't cover up any of the beauty of the photo. If you can't read the verses, they are from Deut. 33:26 -27a, and Ps 91:4, and Ruth 2:12. The silver rod is a Nestability diecut which I cut out of brushed silver card stock. I have kept the entire layout very simple to highlight the verses and photo. I hope you enjoyed this. His Holy Name Challenge - Righteous

This was my 6 x 6 page for His Holy Name Challenge - Righteous. I used my computer to print off a beautiful sunset image. I always feel so close to God when I see the wonder and magesty of the sky!

I chose verses that speak of His righteousness... Ps 50:6 says ..."The heavens declare His righteiousness, for God Himself is judge. Selah".

Ps 71:19 " For your righteousness O God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. O God, who is like you?

His Holy Name Challenge - Sovereign

This is my page for His Holy Name Bible Study and Challenge.... Sovereign. I used some Basicgrey designer paper that had some lines on it and hand wrote my verse from 2 Sam. 7:28. The "S" is glittery chipboard, and the other letters are from a scrap pack of perforated letters.

It's a simple page but I like how it focuses on the attribute we were studying. If God is not sovereign, we can't claim His many promises... but He IS... and we can!

His Holy Name Challenge Holy

Patter has been leading us in a Bible Study challenge where we are studying the names and attributes of God. We are making projects with the verses we have chosen to focus on within the name/ attribute for that week.

I am trying to make 6 x 6 pages to put in an album I have so that at the end of the study I will have a whole book with these Scriptures and in some cases definitions, etc.

I decided not to highly embellish these pages because the Scriptures are so precious I wanted them to stand out and be THE focal point. Some I will hand write... some I will generate on the computer as in this case.

God's Word is so rich and full of wonderful truth... and just studying the names of God can tell us so much about His character and attributes. I find that His word is fresh every day... no matter how long we have known Him, no matter how many times we've read His word... it always has a new truth for us to ponder!

Seed Shooter

Hello everyone! Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I made this card for today's Color Challenge over on SCS, and also for Jamie's sketch on the House Mouse Monday challenge. There is a link for the House Mouse Monday Challenge down on the right side of my blog toward the bottom of the page. Why don't you take a peek?

The image I used is called Seed Shooter. I had this really fun glittery DP by DCWV called "Sweet" collection. I layered that with More Mustard and Rose Red Bazzill to meet the colors of the color challenge. I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with my Copics. If you don't use Copics but want to get started, I highly recommend stamping with the Memento line.... it is about the only ink I have found that does not run with the alcohol in the Copics.

I added some glittery doodling around the scallops and some Basicgrey fibers, and three brads. I wish my photo showed all the glitter and dimension this great dp has... but it's the best I can get. Calendar Paperweight

The photo isn't great for this project... I am sorry about that, but it's late in the day and I don't have great light. I wanted to show you this cute little paperweight in which I made a 2009 Calendar. You can just make the calendar with your computer in any program you are comfortable with. The paperweight came from office Depot. It is clear Acrylic... and has two tiny magnetic posts, and then the back is magnetic. So... I just insert the calendar for this month and add the back and that holds the page in. I decorated my pages with little stamps and I highlighted dates that are important for our family. You know those $1.00 Studio G stamps from Michaels that are for each month of the year? Well this is a great place to use them! I added Stickles and glitter but none of that shows in this light!

There are so many possibilities for these paperweights... I got a few more in different shapes. I'll let you know when I do something with them!

Love You Much Round Top Box

Today's TLC over on SCS was to make this fun round top box. It is super easy and fun to make! I used a piece of Heidi Grace DP and then used some Bazzill Bling in Green and Pink to cut my circles out with my Nesties. I stamped the little birds from SU! Love you Much, colored with Copics and added ribbon and a little glitter with a clear glitter pen. The little heart is paper pieced from the DP. I thought this might be a cute box in which to give my Granddaughter this necklace and bracelet set. I might give her candy in it... we'll see, but it was a fun project. Haven't Heard a Peep!

I'm so ready for spring! The signs are everywhere here in NC! The daffodils are blooming in places already, and many other bulbs are starting to push their ways up through the ground. I chose this fun designer paper from a K Marcella pack because it felt so springy! I just got this Penny Black stamp yesterday... although it is an older one... I happen to love the style of the older Penny Blacks a lot!

Today's featured stamper over on SCS was Julie M Lacey and she has a great gallery! If you'd like to check it out it is FS106. For the Featured Stamper Challenge, we are to case that stamper's card, changing at least 3 things. I changed almost everything except the general layout. I also wanted to participate in Erin's very first sketch challenge over at http://confessionsofapaperaddict.blogspot.com . It just so happens that her sketch was so close to Julies that I was able to make it work.

This image is colored with Copics and has Stickles on the flowers, and clear glitter pen on the sentiment and kitty's eyes. I hate that I can't get a photo that shows that at night, but I can't. Sparkle is always hard to show up on a photo. If you have any great secrets on how to do that let me know!!!

A Gift Bag and Matching Card

Today's Limited Supply Challenge over at SCS was to stretch ourselves and do something we don't usually do. I have never decorated a gift bag before, nor have I used buttons on my cards... nor have I sewn! I do sew... just not on cards! Well... today I made a matching card and gift bag that I needed for a good friend. I used my 5/8" square punch to punch all these little squares of various Provo Craft Designer paper. I mounted them on a chocolate background. I used my Nesties to cut out the heart and also the label 2 on the card. I sponged Creamy Caramel around both sentiment panels. The bag is stamped with a Great Impressions Stamp in Chocolate Chip, the sentiment on the card I made up and printed on the computer. I could not for the life of me get a good photo of the set so I'm uploading them separately, but you can get the idea I'm sure! I did another first on the bag... I tore a piece of fabric from my quilt stash and tied it into a bow on the handle, along with some raffia.

This was the card I made for my best stampin buddy IRL... Dawn (flowergal36 on SCS). She and I share a love for Whipper Snapper Stamps, and she has put me on to this wonderful watercolor paper... so I am still getting used to it but it's really great stuff! I watercolored this image using SU! markers and water. I added Dazzling Diamonds to the wings, and used Twinkling H2O's for the hair. The card stock is SU! Regal Rose. I felt like some pinks and greens and yellows... so I used Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, Rose Red and YoYo Yellow. These images are so fun to color!

A Flower Girl Thank You and Excitement at our house!

Well... here is my first SCS challenge card in almost a week! I've been going through withdrawal! LOL! Today's challenge was a sketch challenge, which is one of my favorite challenges! Roxi does such a great job coming up with interesting sketches for us to use week after week!

It has been an interesting morning at my house to say the least! My grandkids have been here for a few days and they always love collecting shells and pretty rocks when they are here. Lauren, my 7 year old granddaughter had left a plastic shopping bag of rocks on the floor. While I was working on this card there suddenly arose such a clatter that I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter! (OK... wrong season...lol... but it's a literal statement of what happened!) I started hearing stuff flying all over the place, saw flashes of black running here, there and yonder, and more flashes of black, white and rocks scattering all over the place... including 3 bedrooms and down the hall! I can not quite catch up to the flash of black until one of them ran under our bed. Turns out... Ricky (you can see his pic on the side bar) had been playing in the bag and got it stuck on his fat self, and went into a fit of fear, running wildly from room to room! He would not let me near him to undo the bag... growled, hissed, and went deeper under the king sized bed. He had scared Lucy to death too.... she was hiding with her tail as big as I've ever seen it. He had gotten so upset he peed enroute.... yes, it was quite the morning. I finally got a hold of the bag and removed what was left of it... it was pretty much torn into tiny strips by this time. You'll be glad to know he has settled down now and come out to check out the damage. Meanwhile I had to clean up rock dust in three rooms and all down the hardwood flooring in the hall, and the pee. Sooooooo.... this card will be one that I remember for a while! LOL!

Anyhoo.... this is an image I picked up at a local stamp store consignment sale so it's new to me but not a new stamp. It is from All Night Media and I do think it's adorable. I colored it with Prisma Pencils and blended with Goo Gone, something my friend Dawn suggested I try. IRL the images are very tiny and difficult to do much shading or blending on! The colorful designer paper is Basicgrey "Urban Prairie". I added stickles to the flower centers and used my clear glitter pen on the water sprinkles, and on her hat ribbon. I needed a thank you card for someone special on SCS and I thought this would fit the bill for her. Hope she likes it!

Here is a fun card I made with a new SU set called Bloomin Beautiful. My wonderful daughter gave me this set for Christmas and I just love it! I stamped the SU! bg (called Sanded) in versamark and clear embossed it. I also clear embossed the image after I had colored it and cut it out. I mounted it popped up on dimensionals. The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs... a Stamp company I just LOVE! I got two sets from ODBD for Christmas and can't get enough of them! I can't wait to get more! This ribbon and Kraft card stock were a gift from my best stampin buddy Dawn. I love this paper!!!

This is a watercolor I did for a girl in my Bible Study group who was in a terrible accident. She was seriously hurt and I felt such a connection with her because I was in a very serious accident too... broke my back, lost my spleen and some other "damage"... so I wanted to send her a word of encouragement. This sweet image is a Penny Black Stamp and I watercolored with SU! Markers. The sentiment is a Sweet 'n Sassy Stamp. I tied the bow with SU! ribbon. I added sparkle with Stickles and a clear glitter pen. I hope it lifted her spirits!

This is a card I made for a color challenge on SCS. I really am not a big fan of "garden green"... but I really liked how this card came out, even with garden green! LOL! The colors we were to use were Garden Green, Brilliant Blue, and Pumpkin Pie. The highlight of this card is my punched Bachelor Buttons, using my Martha Stewart cornflower punch. Each flower is punched twice and I bent up each petal just a bit for dimension. I used another Martha Stewart punch for the leaves, and I added veining with my embossing stylus and then lightly sponging ink on the edges and in the grooves. The Stampabilities butterfly is colored with SU! markers. The sentiment is Great Impressions.

This is the first card I made with my new Verve Stamps. I love this verse... and the flowers are Verve Stamps too. I used PaperTrey designer paper, cuttlebugged my corners, and for the flowers, I stamped each flower twice and put a brad through the center... then I used my paper piercer tool to roll the papers over... making the flowers look curled. I loved the dimension that gave these flowers! This was for a Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS... Stamp_momma had a great gallery to gaze upon.

Isn't this little guy adorable? I made a Valentine's Day card with this great Whipper Snapper image. I colored it just slightly with my Copics, and the used a neat technique to make the heart strip down the side. This was for a Technique Lover's Challenge over on SCS. I used tacky tape, added my punched hearts, then black embossing powder, and heat embossed. It's very shiny and cool. The cute sentiment is from my new Verve set... which is another stamp company I love!

Here's a non-conventional Valentine's Day card I made. I stamped these tickets... "good for one kiss anytime", and made a little pocket out of my heart image. The designer paper is from EK Success, and the Stampendous heart is stamped in Creamy Caramel, then clear embossed. The punched edge is done with a Martha Stewart punch. I thought this would make a cute card for a guy...... not so gushy sweet, not pink, and what guy wouldn't love kisses anytime? The sentiment at the bottom is a Studio G Stamp.

This is another card I really enjoyed making. This is made with a Penny Black Stamp...another of my favorite companies. I used BasicGrey designer paper and some little dew drops embellishments. There are lots of sparkles on the image even though you can't really see them in the photo. I used a clear glitter pen to give it the sparkle. The little ribbon tabs are SU! Baja Breeze Ribbon.

This is a Valentine's Day card I made using these great BasicGrey papers and my Whipper Snapper image and sentiment. I just love Whipper Snapper! I recently made a large purchase so I should have lots to show you in the future! I colored this adorable little kitty with Copics, and I used a Martha Stewart edge punch to make the horizontal punched layer, which I then mounted on SU! Card Stock. The gold is dry embossed with the hearts done in my Cuttlebug, and the puffy ribbon heart is actually a single heart cut out of a heart ribbon, and glued onto a punched heart. I hand drew in the little balloon on kitty's tail. I loved the warm color combo on this card. Hope you like it!

Today I thought I'd just share a few of my recent cards since I have just started blogging and I want a few things for you to look at. This card was made with a brand new set that I WON from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!!! Yes.... me... I won!!! Now I just don't ever win anything!!! So imagine my surprise when I won this fabulous set on Chrissy Dickinson's blog as part of a release party! To make it even more special is the fact that Chrissy herself designed this set. It is a large set and has lots of great images and sentiments. I just love it! I colored this with Copic markers and went for a clean and simple design. My very first post

Well, here I am blogging and I don't have the first idea of how to do anything. I wanted to first set up a pretty page with a pretty banner and all that stuff, but I can't find anything that works, so obviously I have a LOT of reading to do first. Today I thought I'd just show you the card I made for the Splitcoast Stamper's Limited Supply Challenge. The challenge was to not use any stamps on the front of the card other than the sentiment. This is what I came up with.

Here's what I did: I used a base of chocolate chip, then some yummy Basicgrey designer paper from the Sultry pack. I stamped my sentiment which is a Whipper Snapper Stamp in Chocolate Chip, and layered on regal rose and then chocolate chip. I added a few layered flowers, attaching with sparkly brads, and finally added the vellum butterfly, which I purchased from Michael's in the bridal department! It was one of the quickest cards I've ever made, but it is bright and springy... and many of us are ready for spring, right? Welcome to my blog and thanks for taking a peek!
